Days 7-10: Montréal
Sorry for the lack of update, nonexistant readers. Anyway, last couple of days have been spent in Montreal, which is a pretty cool city. The Latin Quarter, near where we stayed, is kind of like an overgrown Clifton, and there are other neighborhoods like Old Montreal which is like Basse-Ville in Quebec. We saw their huge botanical garden, even huger Mont-Royal park, (another) monstrous basilica,...

Day 6: Whales!
Today, after some properly French French Toast, we drove up to the small town of Tadoussac and went whalewatching on the St. Lawrence. It was a gorgeous day, everything blue and bright. And we saw a ton of whales, some fairly close. It was pretty cool- those are huge animals. Also, on a side note, Neil Stevenson’s Snow Crash has got it’s hooks in me- great piece of scifi so far. ...

Day 5: Au Revoir Québec, Bonjour La Malbaie
Not much to report today- travel day to the resort town of La Malbaie. Stopped along the way to get some awesome fresh strawberries and see another huge church. Fog here keeps me from posting any other cool photos. Hopefully more interesting day tomorrow. See and download the full gallery on posterous Posted via email from brianlange.post | Comment »

Day 4- Parliament Hill and The Best Concert I've...
Checked out the Quebecois parliament building today- pretty reminiscent of a shrunken US capitol on the inside. Also saw the Musée de Beaux-Arts- art museums are much more fun when you’ve had some art history training. Steak frites for dinner, and then went to see RAM (a band from Haiti) followed by Arcade Fire- which, as I said, was the best concert I’ve ever been to. They are THE...

Day 3: Upper Town, and Passion Pit
Pretty chill day, walking around the old part of the city within the walls. Saw some nice views and had the shit scared out of me by a cannon at the Citedelle, and watched the Coupe du Monde final (good work Spain, but not a particularly good game). We saw some sweet break dancers in a park by city hall, and had some super good Italian for dinner. I saw Passion Pit for the third time tonight with...

Day 2: Basilique, Basse-ville, et The Image Mill
Today was pretty sweet. We checked out the basilica (crazy ornate church, and one of the oldest in North America) and then headed out of the walled city and into lower town. We walked the narrow streets and visited the Musée de Civilisation where we saw some human brains, among other stuff. Had some maple gelato with dinner, which kinda sums up this place- part of Canada that likes to pretend...

Québec Day 1
Fairly uneventful day of travel getting to Québec- traffic through Montréal was terrible so we missed Andrew Bird. Still, nothing a good crepe can’t fix. The city is very alive- lots me people out and places open late, and music everywhere because of the Festival D’été.
